When I talk to CHROs and CEOs about what keeps them awake at night it always comes back to the same thing - transformation. They want to know how artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data, augmented reality and other technology will affect their workforce. Technology may not necessarily replace people, but it will certainly change the skills that they need. Senior executives want to know what can they do today to sustain their organisation into the future.

Over the last 20 years, the roles that have truly defined my career have been in global organisations like BHP Billiton, Brambles and Rolls-Royce. What they all had in common was a need to transform on a global basis. We went through global mergers, acquisitions, sales and large-scale change that have made them the successful organisations they are today.

That experience has taught me that transformation is about people. People are what make any transformation successful. Having spent so much of my career in transformation I could only have hoped for a set of tools like those that the Gooroo platform provides us today.

Through a combination of neuroscience and artificial intelligence, we’ve developed a set of tools that allow organisations to understand their people better - individually and collectively. It brings teams together by allowing leaders to understand and align their people.

Whilst all of us in HR have seen a range of evaluation and workforce planning tools - I’ve never seen anything that’s so effective at understanding the skills, capabilities and motivations of an individual in the context of the broader team and organisation.
